3-4 June 2026 : Brussels welcomes the three transfer cities
In early June, representatives of the European project partners – the cities of Manresa (ESP), Jablonec nad Nisou (CZ) and Leeuwarden (NL) – were in Brussels for the first ‘Opening Site Visit’.
Two days were devoted to a thorough analysis of the Be.SHARE project in the presence of our three transfer partners (although the strike at Skeyes Belgium threw the programme into slight disarray).
It was also an opportunity to visit Maximilian Park, as well as the neighbourhood where the heating and cooling network is to be installed in the future, and to explore Brussels’ sewerage system.
In view of the air traffic control strike, the team demonstrated flexibility by organising a hybrid meeting between the partners present in Brussels (colleagues from Leeuwarden and Manresa) and others joining remotely (those from Jablonec nad Nisou).
Technological solutions, the legal framework, the business model, the quadruple helix, public-private-civil society governance, and support for energy consumption and behavioural change among end-users: Be.SHARE’s six innovation blocks were all discussed in detail and scrutinised.
These two days also provided the partners with an opportunity to meet one another, gain a better understanding of the various aspects of the project, exchange experiences and questions, and prepare for the transfer of innovations, both from a technical perspective – relating to the heating and cooling network itself – and from an administrative and social perspective – relating to user support.
In short, it was a rich mix of knowledge exchange, informal networking and discussions on the practical aspects of the project.
Next ‘Opening Site Visit’: scheduled for the summer of 2027
