Liedekerke Park

Among the streets of Saint-Josse and Liedekerke, just by the Place Saint-Josse, a “children admitted” green space has taken over the interior of a block in this highly urbanised neighbourhood.

Enlargement of the site thanks to the acquisition of an additional 800 m2 allowed complete redevelopment of the park in 1997.

From both sides, the park starts with a small square designed as a spot for meeting and rest, where parents can sit, wait for their children and talk. If it rains or if sun protection is needed, two awnings serve as makeshift shelters. The central pavilion serves as a spot for activities and has public toilets. The remainder of the space is reserved for play areas, between which trees (ashes and willows) furnish shade in the summer.

For the children of the neighbourhood, this vast adventure land offers several large-scale modules such as a pirate ship or a Russian castle. The space in the centre of the park allows activities to be organised as desired.

The park is cleaned every day. Coordinators from Saint-Josse Municipality or from associations come regularly to offer the children various activities (painting workshops, etc.)
