Elia offices

The building respects the concepts of good energy practices in an office building: lighting management, limitation of sun influx in the summer, good insulation, airtight building, double flow ventilation with recovery, night cooling, etc.
In addition, the client took on the challenge of limiting the use of products derived from petrochemicals to a strict minimum: in the choice of insulation (cork, wood fibre, rock wool), floor covering (linoleum instead of PVC-vinyl), choice of paints (natural pigments and resins), etc. One of the two refrigerators used to cool the server room and the dispatch area is equipped with a heat exchanger. During mid-season, the heat thus recovered suffices to heat a large part of the building.
The boiler is planned as a backup and to ensure a comfortable temperature during the winter period. The heating needs of the building are reduced to 18 kWh/m².yr (Brussels average: 106).
