Coupole

The project involves construction of two buildings intended to accommodate severely dependent autistic handicapped persons: an “Accommodation Centre” composed of three flats for five persons and a “Day Centre” for supervised activities. The complex achieves a “passive” level for heating and cooling, with consumption of 15 kWh/m2.yr.
It provides high environmental quality through its rainwater recovery system, the planting of the façades and the care taken to incorporate the trees present on the site. Ventilation is both manual and mechanical, with bypass.
Thanks to the use of an original technique, the flat roof can temporarily hold an 8 m3 volume of rainwater, adding to that of the 10 m3 cistern. Preservation of the old trees, a vegetable garden, a composting area, and accessibility for persons with reduced mobility add to the environmental and social nature of this project.
